Overseas mission - word made flesh and chilli children

Clarke Transport's Infrastructure Engineer, Oliver Deeks, is renowned for his volunteering. Having volunteered on a week long holiday for children from disadvantaged backgrounds and with behavioral challenges for the past decade, this year, he's taking things in a different direction.

Flying out to Romania on April 5th to work with Word Made Flesh for two weeks, with an excursion to Moldova, he'll be working as part of a four man team on anything and everything DIY or IT related. Helping to improve the conditions for street kids who have no where else to find warm shelter, somewhere to get a meal, somewhere to get an education and, most importantly, somewhere to just be kids.

Then on June 24th, he's flying out to Uganda as part of a two week Mission Direct team to work on building a physiotherapy centre for the Chilli Children project. The centre will give Chilli Children a place to hold clinics on everything from life skills to club foot, and provide children with disabilities/their families with much needed support, in a country where having a disability is so often seen as shameful.

Chilli Children is a project that seeks to support and encourage families with children who have special needs and disabilities. One such way is growing chilli's which can be sold, chilli's not being popular in Uganda means they're unlikely to be stolen. This enables families to grow their own income.
