Pay: £13.57 per hour (paid weekly, every Thursday)
Hours: 17:00 start, Monday to Friday
About the Role
A Clarke & Co (Smethwick) Ltd are looking for an experienced Forklift Operator to join our evening team at our Tipton depot. This is a full-time, permanent position offering consistent hours, excellent working conditions, and genuine career progression opportunities.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Safely loading and unloading palletised freight onto and off vehicles and trailers.
- Loading of double deck trailers – essential to this role.
- Ensuring all goods are secured correctly and protected from damage.
- Operating the forklift with precision, care, and full awareness of surroundings.
- Using handheld scanners to locate, track, and confirm items, ensuring inventory accuracy.
- Completing pre-shift safety checks via the FLT onboard computer and reporting any defects immediately.
- Following company safety standards, site procedures, and working practices at all times.
You’ll work as part of a professional depot team, supporting the safe and efficient movement of palletised and ADR freight across our national network.

What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for more than just a Forklift Operator we want people who take real pride in their work and contribute positively to the team.
Essential:
- 2 years Forklift Operator experience.
- Experience loading and unloading double deck trailers – essential
- Proven experience in a warehouse or depot environment
- Reliability and Dependability: consistently turning up on time, delivering high-quality work, and being someone, colleagues and supervisors can rely on to meet deadlines and commitments.
- Discipline and Focus: maintaining concentration during repetitive or high-pressure tasks, managing time effectively, and following procedures accurately without the need for constant supervision.
- Attention to Detail: checking loads, paperwork, and safety requirements thoroughly to ensure compliance and prevent errors or damage.
- Professionalism: taking ownership of your work area, respecting equipment, and maintaining a positive and proactive attitude.
- Commitment to Safety and Teamwork: working cooperatively with colleagues and supervisors to keep the depot safe, organised, and efficient.
- Must be willing to undergo a DBS check, due to working with ADR (Dangerous Goods) materials and safety-sensitive freight.
